Isham Jalil Claims Name Removed From Residents' Association WhatsApp Group, Mulls Legal Action

Malaysian Volunteerism chairman Isham Jalil says he will take legal action against those who removed his name from the WhatsApp group chat of Presint 10 People's Residents Association (Seri Perdana neighbourhood, the official residence of the Prime Minister).

The former special officer to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak claimed that his name was removed from the WhatsApp group for sharing materials and articles that criticised the government, reported Sinar Harian.

"I'm sure this is due to pressure from Pakatan Harapan government supporters or their own admin who get 'worked up' when reading articles and my opinion pieces that are not in their favour," said Isham in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 2).

He claimed that prior to the 14th General Election, despite the many anti-Barisan Nasional postings and offensive remarks against former prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib) in the WhatsApp group, no one was removed from the group.

He said that the WhatsApp group is not an ordinary one, it is a registered residents' association group.

"I am the owner of a 'property' there.

"But now I can no longer post and keep up with my neighbourhood activities in Presint 10 Putrajaya. This is a form of discrimination and double standards, I know the law and I know my rights," he added.
